There is no “right way” to live.

Whether it be upbringing, social conditioning, cultural expectations, trauma, or just natural tendencies, some of us live with the inclination to please others with all of our choices. And I get it, pleasing others feels good! I help clients identify their own unique values and live a life in alignment with those values, while tolerating the discomfort that may come along with disappointing others. The “right way” to live is different for each individual.

I approach therapy the way I approach road trips…

Meaning, together with my clients I map out a route, and make sure we’re never aimless. But I am certainly not opposed to a backroad detour or a stop off at a roadside diner. In the therapy room I trust my clients to lead towards their desired destination, however my natural curiosity leads to lots of questions which many clients find helpful. I offer a mix of psychoeducation and tend to stick to casual language and metaphor versus big clinical speak.

When I’m not working I am ideally baking something delicious, swimming in the ocean, listening to folk music or a podcast, taking a great nap on the porch, and spending time with my family and dogs (although, probably not all at the same time…).
